LiveSino.net reports that either Nokia or Microsoft have dropped the region lock from Chinese Lumia handsets, such that merely changing the region will allow Chinese users to buy apps from US or Hong Kong.
They report merely going to “Settings> Language + region” and changing “Country / Region” to Hong Kong and then restarting will let users switch to the Hong Kong or US Windows Phone Store.
In some cases however users need to put their handset in flight mode, change their “Regional Settings” to Hong Kong, restart, and then change the “Phone Language” to into English and “country/region” to Hong Kong and restart.
The change allow users to install apps like certain games and applications like Skype which are not available in the Chinese store.
