NoDo decompilation reveals January, February and March updates

There is a perception floating around that the Copy and Paste update for Windows Phone 7 was already completed last year and just waiting for carriers to approve and push it. reader epsilon283 managed to catch the NoDo update as it was being downloaded to his PC and has managed to decompile to cab to reveal 3 distinctive updates, all with different version numbers and build dates.

The meaning of each is not very clear, but what is clear is that the software being pushed out today is not the same as the one intended to be pushed out in January, with Microsoft performing further tweaks, possible to add new features, but more likely to fix bugs, including the one which caused issued on Samsung handsets.

The builds are as follows:

  • Update 7.0.7008.0 to 7.0.7355.0 compiled March 15, 2011
  • Update 7.0.7355.0 to 7.0.7389.0 compiled January 25, 2011
  • Update 7.0.7389.0 to 7.0.7390.0 compiled February 1, 2011
  • The decompilation demonstrates that the situation is never completely static and that despite all the kerfuffle Microsoft has actually managed to get a build from March 15th pushed through carrier testing and certification rather quickly, in less than 2 weeks for many.
