No Man’s Sky billboard crowdfunded by fans to say “Thank You” to devs

No Man’s Sky has walked a long road since its release back in 2016. What was once a mediocre survival title has been boosted into one of the greats, with a VR mode coming later this year. No, fans have crowdfunded a No Man’s Sky billboard specifically designed to thank developer Hello Games for not giving up on the popular game.

Created by Cam G on Gofundme, the campaign has set up in order to thank Hello Games for the “heroic effort” it’s taken to get No Man’s Sky to the quality it is now.

“As a community on r/NoMansSkyTheGame, we’d like to express our thanks,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“The funds will be used to print and install a billboard in Guildford UK, within walking distance of the Hello Games LTD office… A portion of the funds will also be used to buy a case of beer and lunch for the team.”

In just 20 hours, at the time of writing, 131 fans have donated $2,296 to the cause. As for the extra cash, campaigner Cam G promises to donate money to help disadvantaged kids play video games.

“I just want to say thanks to everyone who donated; all excess funds will be going towards giving games to sick kids. I’m really excited to share my vision for this cause. I’ll be updating everyone on the process of this through the GoFundMe page, Reddit and Discord.”

No Man’s Sky creator Shawn Murray discovered the post on the game’s subreddit and took to Twitter to express his delight.

No Man’s Sky has been one hell of a journey since launch, but the fans who never gave up hope appear to be truly thankful for the improvements that developer Hello Games has added over time. This No Man’s Sky billboard is a beautiful way to show a fan’s gratitude towards such a diligent developer.
