NewsLab: Now faster and freer than ever (and still sexy)

NewsLab is a popular visual news reader for Windows Phone. Designed by people who care about design, NewsLab puts pictures front and center to create a visually rich reading experience. NewsLab was recently released to rave reviews, though it did suffer from some performance issues. We’re happy to report that those issues have been fixed, and a faster, snappier version of NewsLab is now available for download in the Windows Phone Marketplace!

We’re also happy to announce that a new free version of NewsLab will be available in the Marketplace soon. The free version will be ad-supported and fully functional. A paid version will still be available to allow you to eliminate the ads.

People are raving about NewsLab. Here are some recent quotes from reviewers:

  • "Stylish and innovative design make this a great app to use. NewsLab is awesome!"

  • "I have owned an iPhone, BlackBerry and a WP7; this is the best news reader I’ve used. I am stunned at how remarkable it is."

NewsLab does away with the rows and rows of text seen in so many other Windows Phone newsreaders, and presents a media-centric interface featuring large content tiles displaying images from your news feeds. NewsLab comes pre-loaded with many popular content choices, but is also highly customizable.

Features include:

  • Highly intuitive, stunning interface allows you to quickly swipe through the news
  • Search for feeds or browse through popular news sources
  • Quick sharing through Facebook, Twitter, email, and text message
  • Save to Instapaper
  • Detects YouTube videos and makes them playable with a single click
  • Saves content locally so the app starts up quickly. Even allows reading in airplane mode
  • Drag and drop to organize news tiles
