While Microsoft has mostly abandoned Windows Phone apart from the rare fixes, developers are still working on several aspects of the OS to allow users to get new updates on their devices. We have seen developers sideloading Windows RT in the past but the process was rather complex which discouraged several Windows Phone fans.

However, this might change as popular Windows Phone “gus33000” has released a new tool which will let Windows users install Windows RT. Dubbed as “GetLumiaBSP” the tool is designed to separate Lumia’s BSP images from their OS image and apply fixes for porting other NT operating systems.

The tool is open source and is available on GitHub for users to download and use it as well as for developers to contribute to the development. Do remember that this tool can cause permanent damage to your hardware and software and most certainly will void the warranty.
