Spotify is testing a feature which lets you change audio output with ease, but there’s one catch- you need to keep your location services on.
By tracking your location, the app detects when you’re near your speaker, where it will then notify you to make the switch.
While any change to the current system would be an improvement, this feature is still very flawed, according to tech blog, Thurrott.
At this stage, notifications reportedly aren’t working as they should, so the feature needs a bit more tweaking before it’s ready for release to the general public.
It seems that Spotify has become another app to request location services in exchange for special features. Let’s hope the implementation is slick enough to make it worth it.
