The first version of Gears of War was a massive success for Microsoft, and showed that the Xbox 360 was more than just a Halo machine.
Gears of War 4 is set to bring the same much-needed support to Microsoft’s next-gen console, with a release on the Xbox One slated for the 11th October.
Microsoft released the first cinematic trailer for the game during AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead Premiere. In the trailer we see JD Fenix with his father, Marcus Fenix, and as a grown man facing his own new threat, with his home turned into a battle field. Supported by Simon & Garfunkle’s Sound of Silence, it evokes the same feelings about the futility of war but the ongoing need to battle the odds which Gear’s of War’s Mad World trailer sound track did, I think setting the game up immediately for some nostalgic success.
The game takes place on Sera approximately 25 years after the events of Gears of War 3. The new main enemies are known only as The Swarm and set up the dark, more horror-like atmosphere of the game.
Gears of War 4 will soon be available as a multi-player beta on the Xbox One, and available a week early today (11th April) to players who have played the Gears of War Ultimate Edition on Xbox One and PC and will support 2 player split screen.
The game is also expected, but not confirmed to be coming to the PC too.
