It’s that time of the year again, where tech journalists and tech enthusiasts alike flock to Barcelona, Spain to partake in the tech fest that is Mobile World Congress.
For MSPU, this is the first time we’re going to MWC as well. This expanded focus allows us to cover not just phones, but 2 in ones, Windows tablets and anything else that’s Microsoft related at MWC. Exciting right?
In case you haven’t already figured it out, Michael Allison (aka me), will once again be your chaperone for this conference. I’ll be on the ground with my Surface, Windows phones and camera to document all the interesting things that we are bound to come across.
As far as what to expect, this time, we genuinely have no idea. There’s no Microsoft press conference like last year though Microsoft will have a stall with (I presume) the 650 and other devices.
We’ll also be keeping an eye out for Vaio, Acer and Alcatel to play with their recently announced devices. The HP Falcon and Alcatel Superphone may still make appearances though that does seem unlikely at this moment.
On the other hand, Microsoft’s smaller OEMs like Blu and Yezz could put forth a good show at MWC with new devices. Even though there’s no reason to expect them to, at a time when OEMs are launching Windows Phones as fashion devices and powerful business workhorses as opposed to poor clones of Android devices, we don’t know what can be expected.
