Motorola Mobility just experienced another blow in the ongoing patent case against Microsoft. Google which came in support of Motorola also had a blow. This is what happened,

  • Google filed a motion to block testimony from Robert Stevenson, an Android expert working with Microsoft. ITC judge dismissed  Google’s claims that Microsoft disclosed highly confidential (proprietary!) source code of Android to a 3rd party without its permission.
  • Miami based US district court granted Microsoft’s motion to transfer a Motorola Mobility countersuit from the Southern District of Florida to the Western District of Washington, which is Microsoft’s choice.

Its also important to know that Motorola failed to push back the final hearing/target date by three months, which is scheduled for March 5, 2011  2012 (updated). Its evident from the facts that Motorola is on the losing streak and in defensive mode against Microsoft. By the time Google completes Motorola’s acquisition in early 2012, this may be Microsoft ‘s gift to Google ! ! !
