Ever wonder what the impact of keeping WIFI on on your battery consumption (about doubles it) switching the backlight off (halves it)?
Answering these questions is simple with PowerGaurd, which provides a real time read-out of your current battery current draw. It monitors several attributes, such as battery current, voltage, and temperature. PowerGuard represents these attributes textually as well as graphically and also can export the measurements to a comma-separated logfile.
Next to monitoring battery current, PowerGuard can also give a notification when a user-configurable current threshold is exceeded. This is especially useful when you want to know what processes are eating up your battery.
As of version 1.3, PowerGuard predicts remaining battery lifetime.
The software has a basic freeware version, and a registered version for 2.99 euro which provides the ability to predict the battery life and export readings to a .cvs log file for analysis on the desktop.
