Microsoft’s Q2 2016 Earnings: Azure revenue grew 140% in constant currency

Microsoft released its earnings for Q2 2016 (fiscal year). Overall, the numbers from the company’s Q2 2016 earnings report is looking very good — for example, Surface’s revenue increased by 29%, search advertising revenue also saw an impressive growth, and revenue for Office also grew. 

As expected, Microsoft’s cloud business also performed pretty well. Microsoft reported an increase of 5% for its Intelligent Cloud’s revenue. The company reported that its server products and cloud services revenue grew 10% in constant currency. Additionally, Azure’s revenue grew 140% in constant currency — which is very impressive. Microsoft also stated that the revenue from its Azure premium services grew nearly 3x YoY:

  • Server products and cloud services revenue grew 10% in constant currency
  • Azure revenue grew 140% in constant currency with revenue from Azure premium services growing nearly 3x year-over-year
  • Over one-third of the Fortune 500 have chosen our Enterprise Mobility solutions, up nearly 3x year-over-year
