Microsoft working on an Orb-like service for Windows Mobile

A while ago, when rumours of the Windows Mobile 7 delay leaked Microsoft of course did not confirm this, but the Windows Mobile Group Product Manager Scott Rockfeld did however say “Customers don’t have to sit back and wait, there’s tons of stuff coming from us and our partners.

It seems some of the irons that Microsoft has in the oven have been leaking out lately. One of these is Mobile Media beta, an Orb-like client and server solution that streamed your media from your PC (or the cloud) to your Windows Mobile 5 or 6 handheld. The software also allowed for automatic uploading of pictures taken with your Windows Mobile phone.

At present you need a US-based cellphone number to have access to the service – hopefully like the Mesh beta this will change soon.
