Microsoft will release automatic updates to support new Japanese era

Earlier this week, the Japan government officially announced that the new era name is “Reiwa.” On May 1, 2019, this new Japanese era “Reiwa” and associated calendar will begin. This change will require updates to Windows, Office, and .NET Framework.

Microsoft has been preparing for this change for months and recently it announced that the updates to support the new era will install automatically and you will not need to take any action. But yes, you have to have automatic updates enabled for Microsoft products. Enterprise users can visit the below links to know how these updates may affect their work from May 1.
