Microsoft today announced that it will open a new cloud datacenter region in Qatar. With this expansion, Microsoft has 55 cloud regions in 20 countries around the world. The new cloud datacenter region in Qatar is expected to be available in 2021 starting with Azure. Office 365, Dynamics 365 and Power Platform will be available later on. This new datacenter region will enable public and private enterprises in Qatar to access more resilient and reliable cloud services.

“This collaboration with Microsoft comes as part of accelerating the efforts led by the Government of Qatar to implement the country’s digital transformation agenda and build a knowledge-based economy as laid down in the Qatar National Vision 2030,” said Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti.

The new Microsoft region in Qatar will offer Microsoft’s scalable, trusted and reliable cloud services combined with in-country customer data residency. Microsoft will help empower customers through its deep expertise in protecting customer data to meet extensive security and privacy requirements as well as the broadest set of compliance certifications and attestations in the industry.
