Microsoft To Launch Windows Phone 7 In India Later This Year, Hints Nokia As Partner

Amit Chatterjee  who recently succeeded Srini Koppulu as the MD of Microsoft India Development Centre (IDC) interacted with media for the first time after his new job. When questioned about Windows Phone 7 and Bing launch in India, Amit Chatterjee said,

On Windows Phone 7:

“I don’t have the details on the exact date of launch of the Windows phone in India but I am sure it will be this year, mostly likely in the latter part of the year.”

He added that Microsoft is likely join forces with Nokia for exploring the Indian market.

On Bing:

“We don’t want to rush things and plan to bring out the product properly, keeping in view user experience.”

Its important to note that Microsoft’s OEM partners like HTC, Dell have already started selling Windows Phone 7 devices without Microsoft’s support. Those devices won’t have marketplace, Xbox and Zune support. I think Microsoft should work closely with its partners to ensure that the WP7 users get the best experience possible.
