Microsoft today announced that they are partnering with the Kenyan Ministry of Information and Communications and Kenyan Internet Service Provider Indigo Telecom Ltd. to deliver low-cost, high-speed wireless broadband across Kenya. This  low-cost, high-speed wireless broadband is done using solar-powered base stations together with TV white spaces, a technology partially developed by Microsoft Research.

Microsoft is testing and researching about the the White Space approach for a long time and they are looking to deploy it in Kenya. See related blog and video.
