Microsoft launched the Hohm project hosted on its Azure platform about a year ago in beta stage. The service remained in beta stage till to date and now to be discontinued. Microsoft on its Hohm blog wrote that,
The feedback from customers and partners has remained encouraging throughout Microsoft Hohm’s beta period. However, due to the slow overall market adoption of the service, we are instead focusing our efforts on products and solutions more capable of supporting long-standing growth within this evolving market.
The reason seems to be true, because Hohm’s competitor Google PowerMeter was also discontinued due to poor market response. Lets hope Electrical companies realize the importance of home energy management in the future.
