Microsoft Support Site Hints At Surface Pro 3 Launch?

Microsoft has invited the press for a Surface related event on May 20th. Microsoft is expected to reveal Surface Mini which will be based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and will have a full stylus support as well. Bloomberg later reported that Microsoft will also reveal a Intel based Surface at the same event in addition to the rumored Surface Mini. Even CNET reported that the Intel based Surface will based on a new power-optimized Haswell variant as opposed to the widely believed Intel Atom processor.

Today, Microsoft Support site for an update titled “Add recording support H264 for modern communication apps in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2” has provided us a hint on the upcoming Surface Pro 3 with improved camera.

An update is available that adds support to the Surface Pro 3 camera. The following supports will be added into Windows 8.1 to support the h.264 camera:

  • Always use the dependent pin for capture. The dependent pin is based on the .inf file entry as soon as the capture is completed.

  • Windows RT apps that are used for communication use the H264 pin for recording. All other apps use the preview pin for recording.

It could be a typo as well. But as multiple reports confirmed, Surface Pro 3 with improved camera and CPU may get announced next week by Microsoft.
