In March Microsoft Studios Europe revealed that Microsoft was cancelling development of Fable Legends, and last week we reported the possibility that the project may still continue, with Microsoft surveying staff as to whether they would like to continue working on Legends, or just accept the redundancy package that has been put before them and leave at the end of April.
It seems the result of that survey has been negative, as Microsoft has now started shutting down servers for the game, which has been in closed beta since 2014.
Microsoft is also in the process of refunding in-game currency purchased by beta players, though some users may have to wait longer than others. Lionhead Studios is urging users to check their Xbox Live messages. Players who have questions in regards to the refund process can also email Xbox support.
The game was due to launch on both Windows and Xbox one, combine real-time strategy gameplay with role-play game mechanics and feature cross-play between Windows and Xbox.
