Microsoft will educate, not bribe carrier sales staff.
PCMag asked Microsoft to address the issues phones using the companyâ€™s OS have with cell phone sale staff.
Greg Sullivan, Windows Phone product manager, said: "It’s true that there’s work to do from a marketing standpoint, and we have teams in place that are doing retail salesperson training, providing them with evaluation devices so they can use it and become more familiar," "There’s a whole host of efforts that are being undertaken to help get the work out, and it does take a little time."
Unfortunately (and we think unwisely) Microsoft will not be offering sales staff a bounty for pushing Windows Phone 7 handsets. Microsoft will instead concentrate on educating salesmen. Our own research show educated sales staff are much better representatives for the product.
But just maybe splashing the cash is not necessary after all. Greg insisted Windows Phone 7 was already looking up sales-wise.
"When we look at the trajectory and run rate, the acceleration of the platform, we’re very pleased," he said.
