Microsoft Research shows off new touch screen gestures

Microsoft Research are hard at work as usual.  In the above video researcher Hrvoje Benko demonstrates a new technology for recognizing shapes formed by hands and equating those with spatially-consistent gestures.

The video makes the rough manipulations on a normal touch screen much more precise and controlled, which is really what’s necessary if we are ever to get any work done on those giant tables.

Microsoft Research are under increasing pressure to turn their technology into real products, so who knows, maybe this will show up in Microsoft’s next tablet also.
