Microsoft Research Involved In Improving The Halo 5 Multiplayer Experience

Two analytics tools developed by Microsoft Research, Trill and Tempe, help groups like the “Halo” team quickly analyze large amounts of real-time customer data for unusual activity that they can then use to track down any bugs causing abnormalities.

Senior researcher Rob DeLine describes how the Halo team uses Trill, a high-performance in-memory incremental analytics engine, and Tempe, a web service for exploratory data analysis, to monitor and quickly improve the Xbox gaming experience.
