Looks like reorganization within Microsoft continues. ZDNet recently reported that 26-year Microsoft veteran David Treadwell, who most recently the Corporate Vice President of Windows Engineering program management has left Windows group. He is moving to Cloud and Enterprise group and my guess is that he will be working on Azure. Harv Bhela is the new Corporate Vice President of Windows Engineering program management.

David Treadwell sent an email to his group regarding this role change.

“So when Satya asked me to take a new role, my first thought was ‘I love working on Windows! I don’t want to work on anything different!’ Windows is at the center of Microsoft, the core of the company and our success and the broader computing ecosystem, and we are on the precipice of a pretty amazing period as we get ready to upgrade the world with Windows 10. The strategy is right. The execution is strong….

“Yet when the CEO calls, well, you take that call. I’m excited about what I’ll be doing next in C&E (Cloud and Enterprise), and I’m especially excited that I’ll be able to keep a strong connection to Windows from the cloud side.”

Another important role change is for Panos Panay. Panos was most recently the head of Surface unit and now he is now taking over engineering for all Microsoft premium devices, including Surface, Windows Phone, Xbox, Surface Hub, Microsoft Band and HoloLens.

Also, Microsoft is combining its OneDrive/SharePoint and Outlook/Exchange teams along with its Office 365 shared services and Yammer units. Corporate Vice President Rajesh Jha will head all of these teams.
