Windows 10 RTM build now available for download to Windows Insiders

Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 Build to Insiders. The latest build, is 101240 and it’s..wait for it..the RTM build! Yes, Build 10240 is indeed the RTM build of Windows 10 that Microsoft is releasing to OEMs. As you may expect, the build doesn’t include anything new, despite the huge build number jump. However, the latest update probably includes a lot of bug fixes and performance improvements.

Microsoft states that Edge is much faster on this build:

The Edge team has been continuing to optimize performance since first adding the new browser to Windows 10. In this build, Microsoft Edge is even better and is beating Chrome and Safari on their own JavaScript benchmarks:

  • On WebKit Sunspider, Edge is 112% faster than Chrome
  • On Google Octane, Edge is 11% faster than Chrome
  • On Apple JetStream, Edge is 37% faster than Chrome

Alongside improved performance for Edge, Microsoft is also allowing developers to upload their Windows 10 Universal Apps to the Windows Dev Center. The latest update also removes the “preview” tag from the Office apps and that’s pretty much what’s new in this build.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft is releasing Build 10240 to the Fast Ring, as well as the Slow Ring of Insiders. To get the latest build, head over to Windows Update and check for updates. And if you’ve already installed it, tell us what you think of it in the comment section below!
