Microsoft releases August feature update for Office 2016 on Windows desktop for Insiders

Microsoft yesterday released the preview of August feature update 10813.20004 to Office 2016 on Windows Desktop. If you are part of Office Insider program, you can download this update right away. This build comes with the following new features:

  • You can now rename your Word, Excel and PowerPoint files if they are stored in One Drive or SharePoint. Check out this new Rename capability by clicking on the top-level app title bar.
  • Links to OneDrive and SharePoint Online documents will open in desktop Office when you click them in your Office app. You have the option to update your preferences.
  • You can now delete your Word, Excel and PowerPoint files from the Most Recently Used (MRU). You can find this new delete capability by right clicking on the file name from the backstage file list.

To get the update, open any Office app, click File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
