Microsoft Paying $250 Million Quarterly Platform Support Payment To Nokia

From the financial quarter results released by Nokia today, a surprising thing to me was revealed. As part of the broad strategic aggrement with Microsoft, Nokia will receive  platform support payment from Microsoft every quarter. For example, last quarter Microsoft paid $250 million to Nokia for supporting Windows Phones. Even though Microsoft pays Nokia for support, Nokia will continue to pay Windows Phone licensing fees to Microsoft. Nokia also revealed that they have a competitive software royalty structure which includes minimum software royalty commitments.
