Microsoft may have exited the New Zealand carrier market

The very first Windows Phone 7 handset was sold in New Zealand on the 21st October 2010  (picture above) but unfortunately this was not enough for the country to be involved in Microsoft’s “retrenchment” of their phone division.

According to a Vodafone System Engineer on Vodafone New Zealand’s support forums Microsoft has “pulled out of NZ for local support”

So far no carriers in New Zealand have announced support for Microsoft’s new flagships, and it appears the only way to lay hands on them at present is via the official Microsoft Store.

There the Lumia 950 can be purchased for NZ$1149 here, and the Lumia 950 XL for  NZ$1299 here.
