Microsoft [email protected] Tops Google With 22M Users In Cloud Productivity Service For Education

Today Microsoft announced that it now has over 22 million [email protected] users. [email protected] is the Microsoft’s Cloud Productivity Service For Education that competes with Google Apps for Education. Google Apps for Education now has over 14 million users which puts [email protected] in the top spot.

Today, I’m pleased to announce that more than 22 million people now use [email protected], representing a 100 percent year-over-year increase. That’s more than 27,000 new people signing up every day, making [email protected] the most widely used cloud productivity service for education. New schools using [email protected] include: U.S. institutions such as Southern State Community College in Ohio, New Mexico State, Florida State, University of Colorado at Boulder; Kings College London and Royal National College for the Blind, located in the United Kingdom; the Bahrain Ministry of Education and the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education in the Middle East.

Microsoft is replacing the [email protected] service with Office 365 for Education with much more enterprise features such as SharePoint Online and Lync Online.
