It seems Microsoft is slowly waking up to the fact that there is money to be made with their mobile phone OS (or more likely they were just shamed into it by Apple), and they are now giving Windows Mobile much greater prominence on their web property. The much trafficked Windows site now promoted Windows Mobile prominently on the front page, and Microsoft has today launched a slick Silverlight-based web portal under the slogan “Do More” to promote Windows Mobile-based business applications.
While this appears to be a direct response to the iPhone Appstore its obviously still far from having the same presence as the app store has on every iPhone and iPod Touch. We can only hope Windows Mobile 7 does a better job of leveraging the 18000 application ecosystem that already exists on Windows Mobile.
