Microsoft launches a global startup competition focusing on AI

Microsoft Ventures in partnership with Madrona Ventures Group, Notion Capital, and Vertex Ventures Israel today announced a global startup competition. Startups which are creating or leveraging AI technologies can take part in this competition.

The winning startup will get $1 million from Microsoft Ventures and its VC partners and $500,000 in Azure credits. In addition, one more finalist will be given $500,000 in venture funding and $500,000 in Azure credits from Microsoft Ventures as part of the AI for Good Prize, which acknowledges their use of AI to better society. Microsoft will choose winners from three different regions: North America, Europe and Israel.

A group of judges from Microsoft Ventures and the partner VC firms in each region will each vote on the top 10 entries in reach region based on the following criteria:

  • Problem addressed
  • Market size and growth potential
  • Differentiated/disruptive solution
  • Performance and traction with customers
  • Ability of founding team to execute
