Earlier today Microsoft announced a slew of new Surface devices. In case you missed it, we have a roundup article for you. However, if you did watch it, you might have noticed that Microsoft finally added USB Type-C ports to all the new Surface hardware.

With Microsoft switching to Type-C, they needed to make their own Type-C to 3.5mm dongle. Although you won’t need the dongle if you decide to go for Surface Laptop 3 or Surface Pro 7. However, the dongle will be necessary if you’re going for Surface Pro X as the device doesn’t come with 3.5mm audio jack. We do expect the company to launch a bunch of accessories in the future that will come with Type-C connectors but for now, you are stuck with dongles.

The good news is that you can get the dongle for $11.99 which not too expensive. You can also avail special student or military pricing on the dongle which will bring it down to $10.79. The dongle is currently available on the Microsoft Store. According to the store listing, the dongle will release on 5th November 2019 at 7 PM.
