In the past few years, Microsoft’s SQL Server leads the industry on security, performance, and price. But still Oracle leads the database market with more than double the market share of Microsoft. To attract Oracle customers, Microsoft today announced an exciting offer. Customers can move their Oracle databases to SQL Server and receive the necessary licenses of SQL Server—free with software assurance.

Judson Althoff, president of Microsoft North America, announced this new program to help more customers adopt SQL Server 2016 and save.  Specifically, customers currently running applications or workloads on non-Microsoft paid commercial RDBMS platform will be able to migrate their existing applications with free SQL Server licenses.
