Microsoft hires prominent free and open source software advocate

Stormy Peters is a prominent free and open source software advocate. She was the executive director of the GNOME Foundation for about 2.5 years. She has worked for Mozilla, Cloud Foundry and HP in the past. She also has an extensive experience of working with open source software community. Microsoft has now hired Stormy Peters and she will be the Director of Open Source Programs Office at Microsoft.

Microsoft is now one of the leading open source contributor on GitHub, the world’s largest code repository service. Popular Microsoft open soruce projects include Visual Studio Code, TypeScript, and .NET.
