Speaking to Economic Times, Bhaskar Pramanik, chairman of Microsoft said that they have seen higher rate of adoption of cloud services in India after setting up local infrastructure. He also said Microsoft is now aiming for about 40% market share in the next fiscal. Microsoft India’s growth in cloud services was driven so far by SMBs and startups, along with verticals like BFSI, healthcare, ecommerce and the government sector. Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra governments are now using Microsoft Cloud services. He also highlighted Snapdeal, PepperFry, Reliance, Essar, L&T, Mahindra’s have also migrated to Microsoft’s cloud services.
“Cloud adoption is helped by the market itself, which has moved more to the cloud. We feel that we opened our data centres at the right time, and they acted as catalyst and further accelerated the trend. We are also seeing a move to Microsoft Azure.”
