Microsoft may be considering introducing a smart way of rendering apps on its upcoming foldable Windows 10 device, which is codenamed Centaurus, to make sure that users get the maximum output while interacting with the device.

Microsoft recently filed a new patent application( published by USPTO ) titled ‘DISPLAY DEVICE SELECTION BASED ON HARDWARE CONFIGURATION,’ which discusses a smart way to render apps on the screen. The goal here is to make sure that the limited ‘capabilities of each screen’ do not get to play the role of a villain when it comes to opening apps.

Microsoft talks about a ‘display device selection module,’ which will perform the decision making and decide the right configuration for applications. To put it simply, the module will help the device decide the right display for opening apps. If the module senses any restriction in any display, it will simply render the app to another screen.

“In some embodiments, at least one of the first hardware configuration and the second hardware configuration may include at least one input device selected from the group consisting of touchscreen, trackpad, stylus, pen, mouse, keyboard, game controller, camera, ambient light sensor, microphone, and accelerometer,” Microsoft explained.

Moreover, the system may comprise a processor configured to receive an input including instructions to launch an application program on the first display device.
