Channel9 have posted a video demonstrating the Project Astoria Android app porting tool.
The video makes it clear that some APKs will be able to be uploaded unmodified, while those that rely on Google services will be detected by the screening tool, and will in many cases be easily modifiable at the source code level with Microsoft’s drop in replacement toolkit.
Other Android services (such as sharing, ads, analytics and in-app purchases) will be automatically be replaced by the Android layer in Windows 10 Mobile.
Of note is that the process appears pretty powerful and also pretty simply to use, which suggests Rudy may be wrong about the scope of the Android apps which will be supported on Windows Phone.
