Microsoft recently announced that they are adding AMBER alerts in web search results. AMBER is an acronym – it stands for America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response. AMBER Alerts are disseminated though a variety of means including radio, TV, highway signs, SMS, mobile notifications and websites. Now, Microsoft Bing is integrating AMBER Alerts to help increase chances for a safe recovery of abducted children.
Bing is working with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to redistribute AMBER Alerts, after they have been issued by law enforcement, to Bing search users on demand. Active AMBER Alerts are now shown on Bing search page for queries which seek them. You’ll automatically see these alerts if you search for “amber alert” and you’re in a relevant geographical location or if you search for a specific location where an AMBER Alert is active like “amber alert Madison County MS.”
