Microsoft Authenticator now safer on Android with new security feature

Two-factor authentication is pretty awesome, even though it might be a bit annoying to get used to. It adds a layer of security to your personal accounts online, be it a Google account or a Microsoft account. Today, Microsoft is making two-factor authentication slightly easier to use for those using Android. Redmond today rolled out a new update for the Microsoft Authenticator app for Android, adding support for fingerprint authentication.

What this effectively means is that whenever you or someone else tries to log into any of your accounts online, your phone will notify you about that login. Once the login request comes in, you can simply tap it and use your fingerprint to verify the login request. Of course, this feature is only available to phones that have a fingerprint scanner, but there isn’t any option to disable it on your phone even if you have fingerprint setup.

The extra layer of security in the Authenticator app is definitely a neat addition to the app, and you can try it out today by getting the latest update from the Google Play Store.
