Microsoft approaching developers to port high profile iPhone games

Microsoft offering cash for Windows Phone 7 iPhone game ports reports that Microsoft has been approaching iPhone developers with cash offers to stimulate porting of applications to their new Windows Phone 7 platform.

Although the amounts were said to be “substantial” the developer who spoke to PocketGamer reports it was not enough to overcome the difficulty porting games developed on the iPhone’s Objective C to Silverlight and XNA.

Interestingly the informer suggested Microsoft may relax it rules on native development to ease porting in the future, something Microsoft has been suggesting for many high profile applications such as Flash and even business applications like VOIP.

What is certain is that Microsoft is desperate for Windows phone 7 to succeed, and if flashing the cash is what it takes it seems Microsoft is more than prepared to do that.
