Microsoft today announced the new Visual Studio Community 2013, a free version of Visual Studio with extensions support.
The Visual Studio Express products have been a huge success – hundreds of millions of downloads – so we thought we’d do one better: we’ve brought the Express SKUs together into one product that can do everything from desktop development to Store development to Azure and ASP.NET development. Plus, it includes full extensibility, so you can use all your favorite extensions from the VS Gallery and elsewhere. Visual Studio Community is meant for use by open source developers, startups, students, and hobbyists, rather than enterprises.
