Microsoft announces Visual Studio 2019

Microsoft today announced that the next release of Visual Studio will be called Visual Studio 2019. Microsoft is still in the planning phase of Visual Studio 2019 and Visual Studio for Mac. Microsoft mentioned that they remain committed to making Visual Studio faster, more reliable, more productive for individuals and teams, easier to use, and easier to get started with.

Developers can expect better refactorings, better navigation, more capabilities in the debugger, faster solution load, and faster builds in the upcoming Visual Studio 2019. Microsoft is also working on improvements to capabilities like Live Share that enable developers to collaborate in real time, AI-powered Intellicode and more. Microsoft will also make it easy for working with online source repositories like GitHub more seamless.

One good news is that Visual Studio 2019 previews can be installed side by side with Visual Studio 2017 and won’t require a major operating system upgrade. There’s no specific timeline on when Visual Studio 2019 will be released, but you can expect the preview release in the coming months.
