Along with the major announcement about SharePoint spaces, Microsoft today announced four new AI-powered features for SharePoint.
1) New Office.com experience:
Microsoft is positioning Office.com as the centralized portal for SharePoint users from where they can start work and get back to what matters most to them. The new Recommended section will display the files which are most likely to need your attention using the power of AI. And the new Discover section allows users to see the files their colleagues are working on and files available to them that they may not even know existed.
2) Improved image capabilities:
Using the power of AI, you can now easily search for images in your SharePoint library as you search for documents. In addition to the file name of the images, AI will determine where photos were taken, recognize objects, and extract text in photos for improved search experience. For example, you could search a folder of scanned receipts for the receipt that mentions “pasta.” Microsoft is also adding the ability to automatically upload camera roll of mobile devices to OneDrive for Business folders.
3) Improved business process automation:
Microsoft demoed how Flow can be used to streamline processes making using of cognitive services, including geolocation, image recognition, text extraction, machine translation, and sentiment analysis.
4) Intelligent search in the SharePoint mobile app:
Microsoft today announced the new Find tab in the SharePoint mobile app that lets users find people, content, and answers to your questions while on the go. This new Find tab will have
links to recently worked documents and sites, recommendations of relevant sites, files, news, and people. When users perform search, the results are refined as they type, returning personalized results based on their role, work, and the people they work with. If an organization has curated queries, SharePoint will now display instant answers to user’s questions using the power of AI.
