Its another day, another Android maker under Microsoftâ€™s licensing agreement. Microsoft is going crazy these days, they are announcing one agreement each day. Today Microsoft announced the agreement that will cover Wistronâ€™s Android tablets, smartphones and e-readers. Its fourth deal, since last week alone. Anyway, let the OEMâ€™s realize that Android is not free and switch to Windows Phone platform ! !
REDMOND, Wash., and TAIPEI, Taiwan â€” July 5, 2011 â€” Microsoft Corp. and Wistron Corp. have executed a patent agreement that provides broad coverage under Microsoftâ€™s patent portfolio for Wistronâ€™s tablets, mobile phones, e-readers and other consumer devices running the Android or Chrome platform. Although the contents of the agreement have not been disclosed, the parties indicate that Microsoft will receive royalties from Wistron under the agreement.
â€œWe are pleased that Wistron is taking advantage of our industrywide licensing program, established to help companies address Androidâ€™s IP issues,â€ said Horacio Gutierrez, corporate vice president and deputy general counsel of Intellectual Property and Licensing at Microsoft.
