Microsoft announces better Office 365 integration for Yammer

Microsoft today announced a number of improvements coming to Yammer, introducing a better Office 365 integration. With the latest improvements, Microsoft is making it much easier to deal with Office 365 documents which is something a lot of users have been asking for. To start off, Microsoft is adding the ability to create documents directly from Yammer, allowing users to create Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets right from Yammer. When you create a document from Yammer, you’ll be able to set a name for the document, and then Yammer will redirect you to Office Online where you’ll be able to edit the document.

In addition to this, Microsoft is also adding the ability to share files from Office 365 to Yammer — which will basically allow all of the members of a particular group to access that specific file when you share the file.

Additionally, Microsoft is also introducing the ability to share OneDrive and SharePoint files right from Yammer. This new feature will essentially allow users to share a document from their OneDrive or SharePoint account with their team on Yammer pretty easily. For instance, if you are sharing a status/post with your team, clicking on the attachment icon will let you share files from OneDrive, SharePoint, or directly from your computer. If you click on OneDrive or SharePoint, the Share dialog will show all of the files from your OneDrive or SharePoint account right on Yammer.

Lastly, Microsoft is also adding file, link and image previews to Yammer.
