At Microsoft’s Surface event today the company announced a successor to the Surface Laptop, the Surface Laptop 2.
The device features upgraded internals but still the same form-factor, this time however available in midnight black. Other colour options include Cobalt Blue, Burgundy and Platinum.
The device is now available with an 8th gen Intel processor and faster RAM. Unfortunately, it still lacks a USB-C port. At Microsoft’s launch event, they made much of how the device is faster than the MacBook Air 13 inch and was also quieter when typing.
Microsoft said the screen offered 3.4 million pixels, with a best-in-class 1,500:1 contrast ratio, and it was overall 85 percent faster than the original Surface Laptop, while still offering 14.5 hours battery life.

The Surface Laptop 2 starts at $999, and will be available from the 16th October. Find it in the Store here.
