imageWhile Microsoft has done a good job of bringing Windows Phone 7 up to the level of about the iPhone 3G in terms of enterprise manageability that’s still woefully inadequate for most large businesses.

It is therefore welcome news to see (via this job listing) Microsoft is planning to address these issues by working to integrate Device Management into their new mobile OS.

They note the Device Management team’s mission is to “make management and provisioning of phones seamless, reliable, and secure, in a variety of scenarios driven through end user, enterprise and mobile operator requirements.”

Hopefully Microsoft is also working on ticking all the other boxes, such as full storage encryption, which would make Windows Phone 7 an upstanding, reliable and trusted corporate citizen.

The Windows Phone Device Management team is looking for a strong developer to join our team. The charter of the DM team is to make management and provisioning of phones seamless, reliable, and secure, in a variety of scenarios driven through end user, enterprise and mobile operator requirements. We are looking for someone who is excited by challenges and working in a dynamic and quality-oriented team environment. You must be passionate around producing well engineered and robust code which can meet the demanding requirements of mobile platforms. Prior experience in embedded systems, software configuration or management technologies (e.g. OMA-DM, Systems Management Server, etc.) is a plus, but not required if you are a quick learner.

If this sounds like you, we would love to have you as part of our team!

Qualifications for this position include:
– Excellent C++/C coding, debugging and software design skills
– 3+ years of professional software development
– Strong communications skills and ability to work well in a team environment
– BA/BS in Computer Science or related engineering discipline
