Microsoft’s strong WM push into China

Microsoft expects to sell 2 million Windows Mobile phones in China over the next 12 months, and is helping to achieve this by increasing its retail presence significantly.

In cooperation with local retail chains such as D.Phone and China Digital, Microsoft is planning to expand Windows Mobile Experience stores from around 30 to more than 70. In stores belonging to the D.Phone, one of the largest mobile phone retailers in China, these Experience bars, which are placed inside existing stores, have already resulting in a 260% increase in sales, according to  Chen Jingxin, director of Microsoft Mobile Communications Business Greater China.

China is the largest mobile phone market in the world, with 583.5 million users.
