Michelle Obama to participate in global Skype call promote education for all girls

First lady Michelle Obama and Glamour’s editor-in-chief Cindi Leive will lead a global discussion on education inequality in a live Skype call Oct. 11. October 11 to celebrate Day of the Girl, a day set aside by the United Nations since 2011, to discuss and take action to advance girls’ right to education.

Michelle Obama will be joined by actresses and activists Yara Shahidi and Diane Guerrero, along with 150 school-aged girls form The Girl Project and Let Girls Learn. From the Newseum in Washington D.C., they’ll connect via Skype with girls from Tanzania, Peru, Jordan and the UK to share the experiences and challenges they face in obtaining quality education. Skype team will also be sharing updates on pre-stream discussions and activities from Clara Tsao, White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, currently on civic leave from Microsoft.
