Lync for Android updated with new features

Microsoft recently updated Lync for Android with some great new features including Anonymous Join, Certificate & Passive Authentication and Contact Management.

Anonymous Join is a feature (which is already on Windows Phone) that will let you join Lync meetings without an account. Office Blogs states that to do so, users can simply hit the “Guest”
button on the app to quickly join any meeting. Although, to initiate a Lync meeting, you will need a Lync account hooked up to a company, or an Office 365 plan.

Certificate & Passive Authentication is meant to relieve security concerns that some Lync users may be having. With Certificate & Passive Authentication, admins will be able to “configure their environment for more mobility”.

Contact management is a must have in a mobile app. This will allow users to add, remove, and manage contacts directly on their devices, not limited to desktop only any longer.

The Lync team has also included bug fixes and performance enhancements.
