Soon has become somewhat of a swear word for our readers, but for those who still live in hope the good news is that Microsoft’s official twitter account has said that the next update to Windows Phone 8.1 will be rolling out “soon” to handsets.
@CreativeColon It will roll out soon following testing and operator approvals! 🙂

The arrival of the update is of course dependent on carriers and operator testing, which for some carriers is only a matter of 2-3 weeks and for others, like Verizon, can be many months.
Lumia Denim will bring a number of great new features to qualifying handsets, including:
Hey Cortana – the ability to activate cortana without touching your handset. Only for Sensorcore devices.
Camera speed improvements, which much improved start up and shot to shot times.
Moment Capture – The ability to take 8.3 megapixel stills from 4K video at 24fps. This is a kind of replacement for burst mode.
Burst shots now shoot between 3 and 12 images in the time it takes the human eye to blink.
More camera features like Dynamic flash, auto HDR, and improved imaging algorithms.
Support for Bing Weather, fitness data, or notifications on the Glance screen.
Some features are part of the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2, such as SMS forwarding, variable snooze times, Live Folders and VPN improvements.
The update was rumoured for November, so in this case soon may very well mean soon.
